Change! Change!! Change!!! – Adewale Sobowale

The people governing us are great. In fact, their greatness is fantastic.

However, Nigerians are a hard nut to crack. Whatever their rulers do to mitigate some suffering, it is viewed with suspicion. In fact, rulership is a thankless job.

The removal of subsidy on premium motor spirit (PMS) is a case study. I do not know what else one can do to please Nigerians.

Government has seen that the so-called subsidy is only a smokescreen for the crude oil cabal. They fleece Nigerians of trillions of petrodollars, all for doing nothing.

That is why this government has wisened up to her responsibilities. It has stopped the subsidy on PMS.

End of story!

Government did well by involving the stakeholders. Everybody is happy. Government has done very well in providing cushioning effects for the common man.

Buses and taxis have been provided for the use of workers and students. The buses and taxis provide so many jobs for the otherwise unemployed.

Prices are coming down! Why won’t they? The great economic team has fashioned out a good economic sense.

The usual critics, the Labour and social activists have found nothing to criticise. They are, more or less, out of job.

Government has performed an innovation. I mean a series of innovations.

The crude way in which ex-militants used to refine crude oil have been refined. Those people are now engaged as part of the refining team. Engineers in the oil industry are only advising them.

The most astounding feat of government is the sharing of oil proceeds to individuals. Yes, not just those in the Niger Delta but all Nigerians.

Even those Nigerians abroad are busy coming home. Every Nigerian is now a millionaire.

Nigeria has created an economic record. The usual thing is that if there is too much money, the goods will not be enough. However, in the case of Nigeria there is money and the goods do go round.

Every Nigerian has a home. Thanks to the mortgage policy of government. Once you are recruited as a worker, you are given an apartment. The beauty of it is that you rent to own the property. It starts from the messengerial class. Nobody is exempted from this beautiful policy.

The electricity supply companies now give as much as twenty four hours supply per day. They are even requesting that we should have more than twenty four hours in a day.

Government has been gracious enough to sign a contract with Chinese bicycle manufacturing companies to supply cycles for our use. By the way, there is no need to tell the discerning the advantages of bicycle riding.

I am informed that several Nigerians have decided to adopt strolling as a sport. That, on its own, will tone the muscles.

In fact, we are in a season of real change which has refused to be an albatross. However, some ungrateful Nigerians are saying this is not a change but a slave chain hanging on our delicate necks!!!
