Anti-racism protesters gathered in their thousands and had rallies in towns and cities across England. This was a sequel to a week-long anti-immigrant rioting and disorder. Mosques and hotels housing asylum seekers and migrants were among the places targeted during the riots. Some shops were burnt out and looted.
Euro News reports that thousands were gathered on the streets of the UK on Saturday at anti-racist rallies being held across the nation.
The organization Stand Up to Racism organized 22 “Stop the Far Right” demonstrations in cities like London, Manchester, and Birmingham. In London, thousands met outside Reform UK’s London office to accuse British politician Nigel Farage of “inciting fascist rioters.” They then marched outside the Prime Minister’s Downing Street residence to support refugees.
Up to 2,500 people turned out for the march. Protesters were chanting, “Refugees are welcome here.”
Gary McFarlane of Stand up for Racism said, “The majority of people in Britain are for a multicultural society and are against the violence of the racist and the fascist.”
