Some of the wise sayings we learnt in elementary school quite a few years ago still ring in my ears.
One of them is, ‘As you lay your bed, you’ll lie on it’.
The Yoruba too are not found wanting in that area. They always say things like, ‘Amukun eru e wo, oke le nwo, ee wo sale’.
That is, the foundation will, to a large extent, determine the beauty of the end product.
The results of the mistake we made are already becoming apparent, even before 29th May when there will; hopefully, be a change of guards where necessary.
Unfortunately, this ineffective Mr Buhari may stll continue as president.
Those who care to may see that I’m being cautious with the use of words. This is because I don’t believe the future of Nigeria is certain, at least for now.
How can our future be certain when Boko Haram has proved itself to know the Achilles heel of our armed forces.
Indeed, as it’s said on the streets, the armed forces, have fallen our hands!
They have proved that being as many as a mad man’s beard can’t not be effective. This is the age of technology.
Yeah, technology in all ways!
Trains have to be protected by roving choppers. In fact, if I did believe this was a country, I would have been shouting to whoever will care to listen that,
‘There was a country’!
It’s now kidnapping here and there. Robberies have become the order of the day.
Ladies now go to the Arabs to perform the unlady like duties of becoming toilets all for hard currency. We were all letting all hell loose when a president referred to us as a shit hole country.
Are we still in disagreement with the despicable conduct of our ladies?
Poverty was mere play in the past. Now, there’s abject poverty.
What pains me most is when people we hold in high esteem will be defending this misrule. What pains me even more is when the citizen Mudas will go about collecting a pittance and thereby getting their future sold.
I think we need a real reorientation. We need to start from the grassroots in order to educate our people.
This is because as political scientists are wont to say, a people will always deserve its leadership!
