There are so many Yoruba words which meaning I really do not know. Unfortunately for me, I was too yangaish to learn their meaning at the right time.
One of the words is ‘so’. I know it’s a creature but I don’t know which type it is. All I know is that if the Yoruba say a person is more foolish than ‘so’, that person is in a class of foolishness that’s probably irredeemable!
I believe one can safely say with no iota of doubt in my normally innocent mind that although the average Nigerian could be termed as being foolish, those from Southern Nigeria are in a special class of foolishness.
A go ju so lo!
So, we’re now fighting each other while the Northerners are in power. Compared with the Southern states, the Northern states are generally peaceful.
When will we learn it’s the mischief makers amongst us that are causing confusion? And they do it for a fee, at the expense of our self inflicted foolishness.
The earlier we learnt our lessons, the better for us. As things stand, anyone could settle anywhere in this country, according to the constitution. But are we making the constitution work?
As it is, we seem to be playing into the hands of the emergency contractors amidst us. They are obviously smarter than us in that they don’t use their children as foot soldiers.
By the way, what do we gain from their using us like pawns on the chessboard? They are gracious enough to give us gari and kulikuli. Mind you the mixture is well packaged.
We’re so cheap that we actually beg for that kind of empowerment.
A go ju so lo!
