Abiku! by Adewale Sobowale

It’s everywhere,

Over years,

Not only political,

Also is physical,

Could be emotional,

And, also mental,

Strange philosophy!

Like play, like play,

Rag has become cloth,

We never refused,

Tattered clothes to wear!

Seen as abomination,

In lands that were,

relatively insignificant!

Shamefully happens

at our very doorsteps!!

Scariest of crimes

Happen with levity,

who dares accost me?

We hold power!

Housewives raped,

Daughters kidnapped,

Sons are drugging,

Fathers are stealing,

Mothers prostituting!

Ruled by democracy,

Governments do have right,

to notice not!

Neither to prosecute

nor to ever rule

well, the country!

Citizen Muda’s rights

proved when decides

he to look

Lucozade-like when

disempowered he becomes!

Trying we are

to prevent satanic

Incursion, but Baale’s

wife sells hemp!
