I grew up reading the James Hadley Chase thriller series. I think I read all books in the series.
One of the series is titled ‘A Paw In The Bottle’. That novel is all about how monkeys are caught in South America. Peanuts are put in a bottle with a long narrow neck. The bottle is then tied to a tree. Monkeys will come and eye the pèanuts.
The most ádventurous of them will put a hand in the bottle. It will then make a grab for the peanuts.
When it attempts to bring out its catch, he finds it impossible. This is because the fist of the hand in the bottle is now clenched.
The normal thing would have been to drop the peanuts and move on! But being a greedy animal,he won’t until he is caught.
The ruling class in Nigeria should provide for the poor so that its greed does not become its undoing!
