With the imprisonment of the controversial transgender, Bobrisky, I would have thought most of us should be free. But we just can not, since most of us can’t boldly say we haven’t sprayed the troubled currency sometime.
It reminds me of the story in John 8: 7-11, when teachers of the law brought a woman caught committing adultery to Christ. Normally the law stipulated that a woman caught committing adultery must be stoned to death.
But Jesus told them that anyone of them that had never committed a sin should stone the woman. All of them fled.
I’m reliably informed that apart from stomping on the currency, other ways of “mutilating” the Naura are writing on it, rumpling it, putting it in an underwear, and so on.
By the way, is there any law incriminating musicians who are sprayed money?
I wouldn’t believe the guy was punished for that offense – mutilation!
I also believe the judge ought to have recused herself from the case since she was already miffed by the very character of the accused.
Of course, she’s entitled to her emotions. But then, she shouldn’t have allowed her emotions to sway her judgment in such a sensitive case.
Meanwhile, there’s a precedent. Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin popularly known as Simi Gold was found guilty of a similar offense in February 2023. She was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment WITH an option of fine.
I suspect the guy is being punished for some other reason which most Nigerians know.
I’m not a fan of the so-called Mummy of Lagos, but the truth must be told!
