With the announcement of those on the death row in Saudi Arabia, I’m sure it would be apparent to even kindergarteners the problem is not a tribal one.
Initially, some folks were saying it was an Igbo problem. But by now, we should have started being sorry for ourselves as a nation.
Something must be definitely wrong with us as a people. Why must we always be in the news for embarrassing reasons?
It’s very clear some of us are doing their best to paint Nigeria in glowing colors. However, when some situations occur, their efforts would just be a case of someone wearing a white resplendent agbada with a stain of palm oil on it.
I mean, amongst every twelve, there’s always a Judas. When a dog bites a man, it’s nothing special. However, if a man should bite a dog, the newspapers will smile to the banks.
Some were even saying Yoruba didn’t participate in dishonest activities.
Yeah, that was in the past. And, I’m in a position to know. Parents, I mean Yoruba parents, now encourage their children to participate in internet frauds.
But then, I also happen to know that the internet’s positive uses far outstrip it’s negative ones.
For sure, the negative uses may bring fast money. But then, if one wants to enjoy crime- free money, the net is so useful.
That brings us to the tutelage the younger ones are receiving from us. Are we good parents?
This is definitely less of a government issue than a parental one. I’m not saying the government is not to be blamed. But who makes up the government?
We should let the change start from us!
