Ta Ni’Ku Kan? Whose Turn…To Die? – Adewale Sobowale

When our acquaintances, friends and age mates are dying, it’s an allegory for us to mend our ways and put things in order.

It wouldn’t be out of place for us to decide how we want to be interred. When we do that, family and friends will be invitees to our self-planned funerals.

Of course, we must make our wills. That’s of course for those who have willable property. But then, some of us would have been surprised that those things we thought were intangible would be things to argue on by our successors.

But then, we would have been as dead as a dodo!

Pastor Olufemi Okeowo was a great friend at school. We didn’t hold the same religious views. He was an SU, as members of the Scripture Union are called. I remain a non-SU Christian.

He played pranks allowed born ‘agains’. He was as sharp as SUs could be.

But then, he was truthful to a fault!

I can still picture him trying to convince me to give my life to Christ!

He and Aji were soul mates!!

We became even closer in the last 7 or 8 months of his life. I would call him for prayers and counseling. He was never tired of giving both free of charge.

I couldn’t communicate with him in the last two weeks of his lifetime. I tried to but anytime I did, I wasn’t successful.

He loved God. His was a life totally devoted to God through Jesus the Christ.

I just pray his family and friends will be able to bear the irreparable loss having the faith that he’s gone to a place devoid of earthly struggle!
