Pikin No Fine…! – Adewale Sobowale

Some incredulous people who are even far worse than the doubting biblical Thomas have started again.

The results of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board have mercifully been released. Shouldn’t we be happy that it took approximately a month for the results of a computer based multiple choice examination to be released?

That’s even a story for some other day!

The matter of concern today is the nonsensical rumors that have been flying around about the conduct of the examination. This is with particular emphasis to the ability of the pupils to use the computer.

I don’t know what’s wrong with our people. Especially those who go online and start posting nonsense.

At least, I know that in Ogun State, where I worked and was forced to retire, public schools are so rich with computers that even the public elementary schools use computers at the rate of one pupil to a computer.

In the secondary schools, computers are so many that pupils even take notes with their personal computers which were donated to them by government.

Teachers too don’t have the hassles of writing lesson notes manually. They use computers and send the notes to their supervisors’ emails.

And what’s more!

Teachers actually teach from their staff rooms. This allows them to reach the about a thousand pupils in each class since the pupils are also with their own computers.

In fact, we’ve never had it so good. When one goes to the most rural parts of Ogun Waterside, there’s electric power.

In other words, no pupil could truthfully complain of being a computer illiterate.

Igba otun ti de!
Pikin no fine!!
