I don’t know what the President will do to satisfy Nigerians.
As far as I’m concerned what greater thinking could be behind the granting of amnesty to respectable members of boko haram, who are religious fighters in their own rights.
In any case, a committee has just been established to look into the grievances of boko haram. But many Nigerians are thinking that setting up the committee is just a formality.
In other words, they believe the amnesty has already been given. But if so, why not.
In the first instance, is Nigeria not a muslim nation? Abi why do we wear native to our respective offices on Fridays?
Two, why should we not commend the efforts of the boko haram who have made it known that they could die for their cause.
Three, what is good for the goose is also good for the gander. If the niger-delta militants could be treated so well for fighting for ordinary environment then those fighting for their god should be treated like gods because the god can not defend himself.
By the way, for those people that feel Nigeria should have a form of social security system or the other, this is the answer to their prayers. The militants were settled handsomely. I understand some get paid nothing less than 64,000naira per month.
Once amnesty comes the way of the boko haram, they could even get more.
In the nearest future it could be the turn of the OPC or MASSOB.
If they could sustain their struggle,hey would wrestle some funds from the ‘agbonmagbe’ – ‘never ending source’ that the federal government has turned itself into.
However, on a more serious note, I will advise the government to open the prisons and set free all the prisoners.
The first reason for this is due to the fact that most prisoners did not commit murder which the boko haram committed at random. the second reason is that government will neither have to feed nor house prisoners. Warders will have to look for jobs thereby saving the government millions of naira.
And finally, the prisoners[ex-prisoners] will be so grateful that voting for their benefactor will be automatic! Won’t it?
