‘The man dies in him who keeps silent in the face of tyranny.’ – Prof ‘Wole Soyinka
The quote by the Prof can not be overemphasized in a country like Nigeria. The tragedy is that they are refusing to be silent these days. Indeed, some of them are muttering arrant nonsense just for the sake of the filthy lucre they are being paid for the inglorious services they are rendering their odious taskmasters.
I refer to the response of the special adviser on media and publicity to general Buhari. Buhari’s claim to being a general is a matter for another day.
I wouldn’t want to dignify the so- called non- advising adviser by mentioning their name. Of course, those who know will always know.
I’m dumbfounded by the so-called adviser’s nonsensical reaction to Christian Association of Nigeria’s statement on the beheading of the Reverend Andimi. By the way, our man lays claim to being a Christian, a pastor at that!
According to him, security is number one on the priorities of the Buhari administration. Maybe he meant to say insecurity. Or what else can one say? In this January alone, how many Nigerians have been killed by hoodlums believed to be Boko Haram?
Yet, amongst other things Buhari had promised to end the Boko Haram insurgence within a specified time in his first tenure.
Kaka ko san fun’ya aje, o nfi gbogbo omo e b’obinrin…
Herdsmen too are constituting a deadly menace. By the way, we know who used to be their grand patron.
Now, as a pastor, he reminded the Church to be ‘…fully involved in supplication for divine intervention in the country, rather than playing subtle politics and unwittingly generating hate in the land’.
I think he deserves an outstanding ovation for that illogical statement. But the ovation will, of course, only be given by his taskmasters!
According to him, once a government has conquered insurgency, kidnappings and killings are tolerable. Whosoever mentions those ones CAN only be described as an opposition party.
Since his days of kulikuli are certainly over, one can only conclude that the perks of his inglorious office are certainly beclouding his vision. If not, does he expect the bereaved to mourn their dead in silence?
Baa wi ao ku, ta ba wi ao ku!
I wonder if after this madness, he can still return to the newsroom!
