Yes, I can’t do without watching a Nollywood movie in a day. Indeed, my day is not complete without Nollywood.
As a scribbler, the movies take me back to my roots. The movies also take me back to Nigeria, especially Abeokuta where quite a few are being shot.
Apart from the relearning of my culture, I get to learn the latest street language.
I learned that 50 Nollywood movies are produced over a week, second only to India’s Bollywood. The rate of production is certainly higher than Hollywood’s.
In 2020, it produced 2,500 films. When interviewed, a Nigerian cinematographer said Hollywood could learn some things from Nollywood – speed and smaller budgets.
While crowning myself as a five-star general in watching Nollywood films, I remember you can’t remove a local boy from being local!
I’m just too local but I’m proud of it!!
