Can Nigerians ever imagine a place where almost everything works?
I mean a situation in which there are no shouts of, ‘Up NEPA”, because you are over supplied with electric power. A place where the taps run 24/7.
Some hospitals are even ready to give patients treatments when they don’t have money. And when we talk of hospitals, we are not talking of dispensing facilities. Rather, we are talking of first grade hospitals.
There are restrooms almost everywhere. So, there’s no case of people going to do their businesses in the bush. That’s an aspect which I miss so much anyway. I mean, when you do it in the bush, being so close to nature, you’re open to ideas.
One more thing, the environment is so clean. There are almost no litters. Why must there be?
I know there’s no country without its own style of corruption. But the open type of corruption does not exist in some countries.
I should think this is what the debate about 2019 should be based on. As things are, we have left undone those things which we ought to have done.
All we are concerned about are the ages of contestants to various political posts. By the way, shall we not be having a tyranny of some of the youths over the rest of the society?
I really don’t care about age grades. Age is not an essential determinant in political performance. I will rather go for a can do attitude.
But then, are we as a people demanding enough from our rulers? Are we not too docile? Are we not even enjoying our complacency?
The way things are going, with so many youths suddenly realising that they have the right to rule, it’s not unlikely that the incumbent at the federal level goes back to Aso Rock come 2019.
I’ve not seen any serious opposition that is nationally acceptable out there. In fact, APC is the party to beat.
It is rather unfortunate because some of us are of the opinion that for the ruling party, getting political power seems to be THE destination. It’s apparent that after gaining power, they are yet to realise how to use it to the greatest benefit of the people.
The rot is very apparent almost everywhere. Yet the government has been so helpless because of poverty of ideas. I don’t believe most of the people in authority have any business being there.
If there is a credible opposition, I believe the situation would not have been this bad. But the bitter truth is that there is none.
Nigeria we hail thee!
