Like all my posts on FB, I’m satisfied with having done one thing—exercising my freedom of expression. So, I’m not bothered if I’m the only person who sees some sense in what I’m posting.
It’s not easy to raise children. Raising children who will become good examples to others is even more difficult. The most difficult job is raising children who will be seen as worthy of being first among their equals.
One Mama who comes to my mind is evidently a no-nonsense woman. But she’s strict while exhibiting great love not only to her biological children but also to other children and all those who come her way.
When I was the housemaster of a school in Abeokuta, I saw the Mama in full action. She supported all school disciplinary actions. She was not in the league of parents who would refuse to have their children suffer what they themselves went through while in school.
She remains a woman of virtue. She’s the epitome of Proverbs 29:17.
The first female head girl in my tenure as housemaster in the school happens to be her daughter. Of course, she’s a real Christian.
Then came the twins. Both of them became prefects, one the senior prefect and the other too, a prefect whose portfolio I can’t recall. But I can remember he wasn’t the social prefect.
But I would conclude by saying, ‘Morning shows the day’. And as someone reminded me the other day, ‘A fruit can not fall far away from the tree’.
The Mama herself is respect personified. Anytime she saw me in a cab, even after her children had left school, it was customary for her to pay my fare. On my part, I resorted to not greeting her or not entering a cab she was in if I happened to have noticed earlier.
Whenever she noticed I was in the cab, we would gist on the state of the Nation. She might even ask why I wasn’t posting on fb as usual!
She has this respect for everyone!
Here’s wishing Mrs Yetunde Adigun a very long life to enjoy the fruits of her labor!!
Today’s not her birthday o!!!
