When I think of the tragedy that occurred at Ikoyi and the various positions of individuals and bodies, my take is let’s look into the mirror and check out the image.
I sympathise with the families and friends of those who have lost loved ones in the unfortunate and unnecessary incident.
Now, how do we explain the fact that a ‘reputable’ company that has built houses in the UK, USA and South Africa and obeyed the strict building laws of those countries could come back home and be involved in what led to a failed project with the attendant loss of lives, including the chief executive’s?
He, definitely, wouldn’t have wanted to to commit hara kiri!
Until we start doing things the right way, not minding whose ox is gored, I’m sorry to say such unfortunate incidents will keep happening.
For now, the image I can see in the mirror is of a lawless society where the unjustifiable is being held as the truth!
