Hell is surely beckoning.
And, to ease the journey of people who have been condemned, a state in South Western Nigeria is bent on constructing an airport.
The airport could have been described as an elephant project but people going to hell are already patronizing it, even while at its teething stage.
Why not an airport?
The civil servants in the state have received their December 2019 salaries. The governor even did a fantastic job of paying their thirteenth month salaries.
By the way, Ekiti state has started paying thirty thousand naira minimum wage.
In fact, the people are so happy that instead of using the disused roads, they are now acquiring aircraft. The roads are disused because they are just too motorable!
Instead of spending good money on roads, the government is thinking of converting the roads to football pitches. You know, soccer pays and Ekiti Kete must be represented at the national level and even the international level.
But I know the governor is aware of what happened to Ibadan airport. Of course, he’s also aware of what happened to the moribund agro cargo airport projects in nearby Ogun state.
Please, I want to beg everyone not to attempt to invite me to any function holding in Ekiti because I don’t want to go to hell.
By the way, if an airport is indeed desirable, what’s wrong in making things amenable for the private sector to construct it. The state will only be concerned with the administration, and, of course, the revenue.
