Faithful Christians are observing the Ash Wednesday today. It marks the beginning of the Lenten Season.
After forty days of fasting, it will be Easter!
However, in the Nigerian situation, are people not already fasting?
Indeed, they’ve been fasting materially and spiritually. For the Christians, it hasn’t been funny.
It could be said of them that, they’ve been fasting, even before the Lenten Season.
Apart from churches being violated and eventually burnt, people are being kidnapped, raped, tortured, robbed, maimed and duped while the government is definitely helpless.
I believe it takes the grace of God to be a practising Christian in today’s Nigeria. I therefore salute all true Christians.
They, no doubt, realize the fact that at the end of the day, when the human life ends, it will be:
‘Earth to earth;
Ashes to ashes;
Dust to dust,’
all with the hope of Resurrection to eternal life!
