Tips, tippers and tippees! – Adewale Sobowale

Didn’t sleep till the wee hours and, of course, couldn’t have woken up till late.

However, not too late for the church service. Seeing I had some time to burn before the service, went out to see if I could buy some items at a nearby convenience store.

Apparently, the owner was enjoying the weekend at home as his store was under lock.

As I was already outside, I decided to go further down the street. After buying the much-needed stuff, I was already feeling cold. So I decided to get some coffee to spice myself up.

The POS had a space for tips. I told the guy I wasn’t ready to tip!

He then adjusted the machine!!

Now, tipping has been a subject of debate particularly after the pandemic. And now, with global inflation and joblessness, more and more people are getting curious.

Where does the tip go?
Is it for the server?
Is it for the manager?
Is it another way of increasing the price of commodities?

Incidentally, it was part of the discussion at the Fraser Institute – arranged Economic for Journalists seminar in Vancouver!
