The way Nigerian politicians manipulate billions makes me wonder how many Nigerians have ever seen not to talk of being in control of a billion Nigerian Naira.
I’m not even referring to the masses. If you’re not a big time contractor or a very affluent person, I very much doubt if you could have come across that much.
For most of us, the some is like a ‘horse in a book’!
But then, our politicians seem to be enjoying life on our behalf. Or what else can we say about the billions of naira which seem to be inferior to paper napkins as far as they are concerned.
In better climes, the idea is not to make people rich but to make them live an enviable life. This can only be done when they are comfortable.
Who’ll not be comfortable when they have all the basic amenities and much more. What’s the purpose of government?
Isn’t it to distribute resources accordingly?
I can remember that in 2018, doctors in Quebec, Canada refused an increase in their salaries. They asked for the money to be used in making lives of nurses and patients much better.
I doubt if they would have done that if, apart from their emoluments being enough for their, they weren’t enjoying the presence of good government.
In Nigeria, the government can not pretend to be good. Theirs is to fleece the commonwealth as long as they are there.
Recently, I saw a video of Musin roads and I felt so sorry for my country. Musin happens to be in Lagos state. We’ve been saying Lagos is lucky with governance. Well if that’s luck, it must be bad luck.
I know that something must give!
