I hope the news I’m hearing of the Yoruba response to the herder menace is false!

It’s no news that herders are already a menace in southern Nigeria. They commit trespasses, kill, rape, murder, kidnap and generally do not obey any law of decency.

And, they are indirectly enjoying the support of the federal government of Nigeria.

But what’s the response of the Yoruba?

I understand Yoruba hunters have taken it upon themselves to defend the southwest.

That should have been great news.

But it really embarrassed me when I saw the old hunters with their sakabula guns. For crying out loud, could someone, please, inform these people we’re no longer in the era of D.O. Fagunwa’s Ogboju Ode Ninu Igbo Irunmole.

Yes, someone should inform them we are no longer in the days of Elegbeje Ode, Olohun Iyo, Kako Onikumo Ekun, Efoye, Imodoye, Itanforiti and Akara Ogun.

If we’ve seen the need to defend our territory, let’s do it in ways that we’ll not record a lot of casualties.

Facing the AK 47-wielding criminals with sakabula will only resolve in harakiri!
