These people are damn too friendly, especially to kids, the elderly, and those who are frail for one reason or the other.
In the first instance, it’s a custom for drivers to make way for pedestrians. But some of our African brothers hardly respect this tradition.
When you go into buses, some seats are traditionally reserved for the elderly. If the seats are filled up and an elderly person is left standing, it’s obligatory for a younger person to get their butt off and allow the elderly person to sit down.
Whenever a lady with a pram is on the bus, people show some affection by giving not only the mother a seat, they also allow the pram carrying the baby another seat.
You know how it is in my country. That’s when you’ll be hearing,
‘Se ‘mi ni mo da e loran ni?
Iya onibeji atowoda!
Iya kereni t’o bi Iddo’.
And wait for this, children are not asked to get up for adults. A child is supposed to have an equal right with an adult.
Challenged individuals too are constitutionally and informally protected.
One could go on and on!
