I love the Yoruba because of their wisdom. There is actually nothing that their philosophy doesn’t cover.
At least, within their world view!
Concerned Ogun State indigenes have been flooding the social media with their shock over the disgrace that occurred yesterday.
While sympathizing with them, I sincerely believe that we all are responsible for the frankeistenic monster in skyscraper cap’s continued stay in office.
The Yoruba in their wisdom say, ti ara ile eni ba nje kokoro buburu, ta ba so fun, huru here e o ni je a gbadun l’oru. That is, if our neighbor is doing something bad and we fail to caution them, we might be embarrassed in the final analysis.
Yes, when the man with the gorodomu cap came into office, he wowed us with his nonsensical actions. About the first thing he did was to construct an air conditioned pedestrian bridge at Ita Eko.
In the first instance, that place in comparison to other busy areas did not really need a bridge, at that point in time. And if a bridge must be constructed must it be an air conditioned one?
He went on to demolish houses in order to do what he called his ‘Urban Renewal’ programme. The most painful aspect of this was the demolition of historical buildings like the National Bank at Sapon, the PZ buildings at Panseke and a part of the St Peter’s Church in Ake amongst others.
While doing this, he failed woefully in the education and agriculture sector. He also emasculated the granite industry by bringing his Chinese friends to invest in the industry. The better equipped Chinese bought the quarries, supplied vehicles and engaged in actual supplies.
Meanwhile, we were saying if it’s only roads Amosun came to do, he should be encouraged to do it.
Ki lo dun bi arun iba?
Our words gave him confidence and he went on constructing roads that led nowhere. His warped thinking was that roads would attract investment. I can remember crying out severally that it was better to equip the people with education and feed them by spending resources on agriculture.
Ta n m’okolo mi l’Oyo?
Some idiotic fellows were even insinuating that we were complaining because Amosun wasn’t doling out free money.
Gradually, the man became an emperor as he saw that he could use money to buy the people.
His false confidence urged him to have a separate candidate from his party. He floated another party for his candidate to run on while he still remained in the ruling party.
I would have expected the party to try him for anti party activities. But then, Nigeria is a country where anything goes.
He even took his candidate to Aso Rock a couple of times. And the president being a man of questionable integrity welcomed them in his naivety.
In saner climes, the Ogun State house of assembly would have started investigating the embarrassing act with a view to impeaching the governor. However, the house itself is made up of Amosun’s man Fridays.
I understand he’s even started his demolition again. Most of the bridges he initiated in Ifo Local government are yet to be completed and I very much doubt if they will in his tenure.
Emperor Ibikunle Oyelaja Amosun, continue ‘chopping the life of ya head’! You’re not the one who instructed us to be politically unwise.
Agba ti o l’ahun soro, a ketan sare!!!
