Those who said that people seeking political offices should go for psychiatric tests were proven right by the show of shame exhibited by Mr Abiola Ajumobi recently.
Ladoke Akintola University students have been on a forced holiday for seven months. This is because their school had been shut down.
The school is situated in Osun State. However, it is jointly owned by Oyo and Osun states. Ajumobi happens to be the governor of Oyo State.
He, Ajumobi, really did embarrass himself in the presence of the students. He did not know how to conduct himself in the presence of the students who only needed assurance and encouragement.
In more civilised climes, we should have been referring to him as a former governor now. He would have resigned honourably. Since he has failed to do the needful, the Oyo State House of Assembly should help him out.
If he does not lose his job, I will hardly be surprised. Our society sees the incident as one of those things public officers encounter in the course of pitying us by doing their jobs.
It is in this society that a person will be voted for or selected because he represents an interest group very well. However, once he gets into power, his river promptly forgets it’s source. His okro is now taller than its harvester.
He abandons his primary constituency. Indeed, he is not seen until the next election. Pray, how will our man understand the sufferings of his people when he buries himself in the capital?
However, are the people he is supposed to be leading any better? I bet we aren’t!
When the PDP was in power, the APC was full of complaints. APC was elected into power at the federal level due to the so-called incompetence and corruption of the PDP.
Great, isn’t it?
However, with over two years in the saddle, has APC led us to paradise?
I think the problem is in us as a people. Since nobody is ready to die for their ideals, the rogues will keep on milking the nation dry. All we can do is to complain.
By the way, is there any evidence that if the supposedly clean guys get there, they would not be worse? From what I’m seeing, they’ll be far worse.
A people will always deserve its ruling class!
