US provides more aid to Sudanese people!

The authorities in the United States have to provide over $47 million in humanitarian assistance for the emergency response in Sudan and neighbouring countries, including Chad and South Sudan.

The Assistant Secretary for Population, Refugees, and Migration, Julieta Valls Noyes, revealed this at a meeting with Chadian President Succes Masra.

The largest humanitarian crisis in the world, Sudan has over eight million people newly displaced since the conflict began in April. According to the UN, nearly 25 million people, half the population, need aid. The number includes over one million Sudanese refugees who have fled to neighbouring countries like Chad, Egypt, Ethiopia, South Sudan and the Central African Republic.

The US authorities have provided critical life-saving assistance, including Food, water, and sanitation facilities, shelter, medical services, and mental health support to Sudanese fleeing the conflict. The announcement brings total US humanitarian support for people in Sudan and neighbouring countries to nearly $968 million since 2023. According to the statement, the US will continue to work with international and local partners to provide life-saving support to the millions of people affected by the devastating conflict in Sudan.

The US is the leading humanitarian donor to the Sudan emergency response and calls on the international community to help assuage the suffering of the refugees forced to leave their homes due to violence.

The US has also urged parties in the Sudan conflict to allow unhindered humanitarian access, including cross-line and cross-border, to engage in direct talks, agree to a ceasefire, and end hostilities immediately. Preventing a famine and long-term catastrophe will require a ceasefire and unhindered humanitarian access.
