Two men have been indicted in the United States in connection with the death of an Indian migrant family over two years ago along the US-Canada border in Manitoba.
The CBC reports that the men were indicated by federal prosecutors in the US.
According to court documents, the two men are Steve Shand and Harshkumar Ramanlal Patel.
US patrol agents had arrested Shand and two migrants in a rented 15-seater passenger van in Minnesota in January 2022. After their arrest, five migrants were detained while walking down the same highway shortly after.
Sadly, on the same day, the frozen bodies of Jagdish Patel, his wife Vaishali, their daughter Vihangi, and son Dharmik were found in Canada, some meters from the US border. A snowstorm had killed them
Harshkumar Patel is accused of seven counts, while Shard faces four charges.
