The relationship between President Joe Biden of the United States and Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is going south. Both men disagree on Rafah’s “red line.”
Biden has said an Israeli invasion of Rafah would amount to Israel crossing the “red line.” More than a million Palestinians are sheltering in Rafah.
Netanyahu declared, “We’ll go there. You know, I have a tired line. You know what the red line is? That October 7 doesn’t happen again. Never happens again.”
However, officials in Washington have tried to launder Biden’s comments. They explained Biden would support an incursion into Rafah if Israel could present a plan to prevent civilian suffering first.
