UK declared unsafe for asylum seekers!

A court in Ireland has declared the UK unsafe for asylum seekers.

The Irish High Court has ruled the UK is not a safe country to return asylum seekers to due to their risk of being flown to Rwanda.

However, it risks sparking a diplomatic row with the British Government, which rejected the court’s conclusion.

Judge Siobhan Phelan reached the decision.

Two men who applied for asylum in Ireland brought up the case after being denied asylum in Britain. Their lawyers argued that Ireland could not afford to send people to a country while knowing they would be sent to a further country that would be the “ultimate destination”.

But the case will return to the Irish High Court for further orders in two weeks.

Expectedly, a British government official said, “We entirely refute the notion that our partnership with Rwanda makes the UK an unsafe country.”
