People are eagerly waiting for 31st December!
Bells will clang in churches and shouts of ‘Happy New Year’ will reach a crescendo. Cars will blare their horns and people will celebrate while congratulating themselves on seeing the new year.
But then, I hope we all realize that with every new year, we witness on Mother Earth, each of us is moving near our ultimate harvesting!
I know many New Year resolutions will be made this midnight. By the way, how many people’s New Year resolutions survive for more than a month?
That’s the crux of the matter.
I would rather live every day, make the best of it and look at my failures in the evening with the aim of making tomorrow better rather than using a whole calendar year as my measuring stick.
Many people will promise to stop smoking, for instance, in the new year only for them to resume on the second or third day of the year.
Some will promise themselves a building of their own. But given the economic conditions of the world they might not be able so to do honestly. They would therefore need to be dishonest in other to walk their talk. I mean the dishonest ones.
Given the chance, I wouldn’t take the 1st of January as a holiday. I would rather go and work. I’d rather take my holiday as soon as it’s due.
While insisting that all days are blessings unto Him, I wish everyone a wonderful year 2020!
