I don’t know where the above quote is in Prof Chinua Achebe’s trilogy, ‘Things Fall Apart’, ‘No Longer at Ease” and ‘Arrow of God’.
However, it tends to speak a lot about my convictions that writers tend to see what others might not see and the present cravings of various groups in Nigeria to go their separate ways.
In other words, Nigeria must break!
Mmm…!!
What a fine idea!!!
Yes,
ko ni gbongbo yo gbongbo,
Ko ni kumo yo kumo
We must split
This Lugard
Contraption!
When we split, we’ll not stop at the regional level. We will surely go down to the towns and cities. Then, we’ll split into villages.
After that, we must move into turning streets into republics. From there, each person will turn their house into a nation.
What a fine idea it would be if each room was governed by its occupant.
Iish!
I have this belief that we have much more to gain as one indivisible nation than getting divided into segments. We may not ever recover from the looming wars that might arise from division.
How about practising federalism in the true sense of the word? I mean, where the federating units have much more power than the centre!
By the way, why must we replace national overlords with regional overlords?
