If I had the opportunity, I would have asked the Nigerian President what happened during the lockdown to warrant easing it from next Monday.
I would have even asked him if he had succeeded in getting an okay from COVID-19 that it must only strike at night. That would have informed him of a curfew from eight p.m. to six a.m.
Overall, while I recognize the usefulness of good health, I certainly think the government got it all wrong from the beginning.
There’s no proof that infections are on the downward trend. So, why did the presidency relax the lockdown?
So many governors also give orders to people as to when they should stay indoors and when they should be outside, like pupils in the boarding house.
I suspect the government doesn’t know what it’s doing. I would have preferred a situation in which the government racked its brains before taking measures against its people.
This idea of copying and pasting everything European is certainly killing us. What are the research institutes and medical schools doing? I still very much believe in African herbs. Why don’t we commission a team of herbalists to see if we can find a solution to this raging scourge?
Then, we should try to reduce people’s slumming as much as possible because they don’t have a choice. We should also clean up public places like markets and motor parks a lot.
Do we have potable water?
If all these and more are implemented, we’ll be at a good starting point.
Well, if we refuse to act fast, the alagbo that sell herbal drugs mixed with alcohol in our motor parks are waiting to seize the situation. Of course, those who know will testify they, too, are pandemics waiting to strike!
I sincerely believe the government owes the people of Nigeria an apology!
