Won’t we?
I mean won’t we miss the president that’s always airborne?
I realize so many things have been said about the pros and cons of his regime
But, as some may realize
I’ll only speak about effects of his coming on Citizens Muda
From the inception of his eight years
We were surprised that for someone who had been a serial contender for so long
And being a serial loser for that much of time
He wasn’t able to shoot from the hips from day one
Especially for a matter as trivial as choosing a cabinet!
When he eventually did
We had thought his regime would have been an exemplary one
When I say we, I mean those who voted him in
For me, I couldn’t divorce him from the one that gave us a bitter taste in the eighties
I never trusted his claim to being a born again Democrat
I was not disappointed
But let’s leave that!
So, how was his rulership beneficial to the common people
Yes o
When the man from Otueke was president
We thought we had had the last bad rulership
We weren’t disappointed
From inception
Buhari had been so good
I hear people are even asking him to continue
Out of happiness for the good things he’s done
Some are asking for the constitution to be amended
To allow him rule for ever
Everything about his regime is good
I mean every damn thing
Nigerians are so secured that they are selling the fences they’ve used to secure their houses in the past
We now have I doctor to one patient in our general hospitals
Our homes now have pipeborne water and we have no use for water vendors again
We have model schools even in the most obscure villages and every pupil is on scholarship
Our universities are now within the first ten globally
Our factories are now back in shape, they’ve been wrestled from churches who were using them as worship centres
Our roads are so good that villagers now dry their processed cassava on well-tarred roads
He was able to organize the best election in the world
Foreign observers are still praising him for the successful conduct of elections
There’s no one doubting the honesty displayed during elections
Even the various parties have agreed to the results
The outgoing president is a true dreamer
Our love for him can never be equated!
Our people are now singing,
Rain rain go away
Never come another day
Our people want to play!
The Yoruba are singing:
Laye Olugbon
Mo da borun meje
Laye Aresa
Mo da borun mefa
Laye Buhari
Mmm…..
By the way, I recognize a regime would have made its successes, one way or the other. I’m leaving that to the praise singers!
