NIGERIA : Not Yet Uhuru It is another may 29. Nigerians are expected to be celebrating another so-called democracy day! However, my belief is that one can measure a state by the quality of life of the poorest citizen in that state.
In other words, does the poor have the ability to live in dignity? How well-ruled is the state itself? Do the jobless have access to social security? What is the level of corruption? etc Indeed is THIS democracy not a sham! Wd need to prove that we are not having a demonstration of craze(fẹla).
If the state is rich and the generality of the citizens are wallowing in abject poverty then the citizens must be fools ruled by fraudsters. I owe nobódy any apology since i am one of the fools.
For how long shall we continue to sell our votes for a pair of bathroom slippers,3 yards of inferior ‘ankara’, a bottle of push-me-I-push-you?
Until we answer the basic questions about our continued existence as a nation at a sovereign national conference we might not have a proper democracy. What we have now is crazy demonstration(fẹla)!
