I love Yoruba, this song keeps ringing in my ears:
Jagunjagun lo nbo;
Olori ogun
ko gbodo k’ehin ogun;
jagunjagun lo nbo!
A warrior is coming along;
A generalissimo
daren’t stay behind
A warrior is coming!
It’s even good that the field marshal is a drummer. He would sound the bata-fuji war drums. The troops won’t lack agbado (corn).
To the war, we must go!
Even going against the words of Winston Churchill, “To Jaw-Jaw is better than to War-War!”
Of course, the world war 2 veteran and late UK Prime Minister wouldn’t know what we stand to gain.
The army which has been idling without experiencing a war will surely get a war experience.
It’s our hope that we will get some spoils of war.
By waging a war or wars, the populace is bound to understand and they won’t ask for anything. After all, we’re fighting a war.
More importantly, it will sound a note of warning to our own soldiers that if they embark on the risky task of coup d’état, it would be foiled.
Much more importantly, if it so happens that the courts rule against my election since we are fighting a war, I’ll remain in power.
Forget the run-of-the-mill, some of them will be enlisted in the army.
I’m always a winner!
