The portrait of Babylon! – Adewale Sobowale

The first eight verses of Genesis 11 tell the story of the Tower of Babel. It is about the Babylonians who wanted to build a tower to reach heaven. Their primary reason was to avoid
being scattered across the face of the earth.

However, God felt that if they had succeeded in building the tower, nothing would have been impossible for them. So, God went down and confused their language. They couldn’t understand each other since they could not relate in the same language.

That was the end of their aspiration.

With hindsight, the Babylonians and God were quite right. I’m referring to the unrest in the world and man’s brilliance, which has brought so many developments to our world.

In that light, I view the most significant painting of the Nigerian president, Mr Bola Tinubu, as good as the purported discovery of the River Niger by Mungo Park. I think it’s the best thing after the discovery of ice cream.

I don’t see any problem Nigeria could have with God. That’s because Nigeria already has about 525 languages, approximately 371 tribes and 250 ethnic groups.

I think the portrait will help God by stopping Nigerians from praying to Him for every essential thing. In fact, we, Nigerians are already constituting a nuisance to God. These are some of the things the government should have provided with little stress.

Wise people would kneel below the painting and pray; voila, the things they prayed for would be given to them free of charge.

I recommend replicating the painting in the state capitals and local government headquarters to distribute the goodies evenly.

That’s a way to solve the workers’ constant demands for minimum wage.

Tourists would see the most enormous portraits in the world. Nigeria would easily beat Mecca and war-ravaged Jerusalem.

Of course, the security system and airport facilities are working effectively.

God bless Nigeria!
