Nigerians do not recognise talents when they see them. How can they? The hunger that even those that have means of getting their daily bread are facing has made them blind.
If those who are working are hungry, what will happen to the many who are jobless?
Asko!
If gold rust, what shall iron do?
Of course, they will starve.
For instance, see senator ajekuiya. Why would anybody want to recall a very talented senator?
Even the vice president knows he is talented. He mentioned the fact that he has released a CD titled ajekuiya.
Those are the type of people we want to be our politicians. For one, they can never be involved in any corrupt activity because what they are earning as professional musicians is a fortune.
They are just giving back to the society by being politicians. In fact, they are actually doing us a favour by serving us.
That is why they give us money and look for other ways of empowering us before elections. It is true that we hardly see them once they’ve been elected. However, we understand.
They are so busy that they only have time for us at the approach of another election. They keep quarrelling with the executive over constituency projects.
Let me tell you, those constituency projects are for you and I.
And if they get anything from the projects, we don’t bother. Eni se nbi pepe lo nje nibi pepe. The person that serves at the altar has the right to eat therefrom.
And, there is no way a person feeding a child will not taste the food. A nu’mo ko ni f’owo nu’le.
Music is an interesting profession. That is why many of our lawmakers are venturing into it.
The new senator is a good modern dancer. You need to see his dance steps. He can dance to soki, skelewu, juju and all others.
You just need to see him performing. His tommy will be dancing in a style different from his own. At the end of the day, everything will then be synchronised.
We are considering having a senate band. When we have the band, it will be earning the much needed revenue for the house. It will be to the eternal shame of those who believe the house is like an expensive habit which is not needed.
I know with time, more members will show their interest in the band. We could even have a training programme for members. We will even perform better than popular Jingo, the Ijebu Igbo musician.
And I remember an adequate song for the fantastic dancers, we used to sing it in our school: ‘Jijo iya ka wo’, which means ‘Dance like a senseless person, we dare you’.
Until then, let’s have a nice dancing time!
