Seriously? – Adewale Sobowale

Nigeria’s constitution is a clinical one. It’s made more so by so-called professional politicians.

Let’s look at Governor Akeredolu’s death and his deputy’s swearing-in. Both happened on the same day. In fact, it was as if the House of Assembly knew the late governor would die anyway.

The new governor who couldn’t even control the lousy crowd was sworn in in a boisterous atmosphere. At one point he uttered some words of congratulations saying “a ku ori ire”.

Since he was already the acting governor, I don’t see any reason for a hurried swearing-in process.

But the lessons that should be learnt from the swearing-in are that nobody is indispensable and for a child who buries his father without clothes, his own children will also do the same for him.

By the way, maybe YouTube did not cover their traditional one-minute silence for the late governor!
