Nigerians are known worldwide for their equanimity to most vicissitudes of life. I’m tempted to believe our silence is less than golden but stupid.
It’s not for fun we’re known as the happiest people on earth. Neither is it easy to be called the most religious people.
But then, when we look behind the mask, we’re faced with a people who, because they have no choice, decide to laugh and pray instead of taking positive actions.
A hungry looking and scrawny Santa Claus that has gone viral is the vivid image of the average Nigerian.
Yet, we hear of so much monies exchanging hands in the corridors of power.
I’m of the opinion that one of the easiest countries to run successfully remains Nigeria.
I know you’ll ask me how!
The average Nigerian only needs the basic amenities to be working well. Power, roads, water and a means to earn a decent living come to my mind.
But the so-called leaders are failing us serially in providing these. This is despite so many external loans that our leaders get from international bodies.
Considering the popular saying that ‘a people will always deserve their leaders’, I would think we do deserve a scrawnier looking 🎅 Santa Claus!
