Positive Addiction! – Adewale Sobowale

Did you know addiction could be positive?

Yeah, you heard me right.

Some of us won’t touch the word addiction with a ten-foot pole. I do understand.

However, addiction could be positive.

It’s a new concept saying it is possible to be addicted to positive behaviour, which develops the character and the body, helps to overcome negative addictions, and leads one to an integrated and rewarding life.

There are many examples of positive addiction:

Listening Addiction:

Most of the world’s problems are due to our inability to listen to others and assimilate what they have said before taking any action. If we could make it a duty to listen more, we would be doing ourselves a world of good.

Debating or Discussion Addiction.

This could also be referred to as the round-table addiction. Looking around our globe today, we see war on every continent. Did you know that most of the wars would eventually be settled on the discussion table?

This shows that most of us cannot convince others to see our points. How do you do that?
You must engage them in debates. While I won’t delude myself into thinking the world would be peaceful thereafter, I’m convinced that most conflicts would be settled before they develop into wars.

Exercise Addiction:

Regular exercise is one of the secrets of a healthy lifestyle. Engaging in physical activity helps maintain a healthy weight, improves cardiovascular health, strengthens muscles and bones, and boosts mood.

Reading Addiction:

Reading expands your knowledge, stimulates your imagination, and provides a healthy escape from the stresses of everyday life.

Meditation Addiction:

Meditation helps cultivate mindfulness, reduces stress, and improves mental clarity. Making time for meditation allows you to connect with your inner self, promoting a sense of peace and calm.

Healthy Cooking Addiction:

Healthy cooking addiction allows you to take control of your nutrition and make conscious choices about what you put into your body. Experiment with new recipes, explore different cuisines and discover the joy of preparing nutritious meals.

Creative Hobby Addiction:

Hobbies like painting, writing, or playing a musical instrument can provide an outlet for self-expression and enhance overall well-being. Channeling your creativity into a hobby allows you to explore your passions, reduce stress, and experience a sense of accomplishment.

Nature Connection Addiction:

Spending time in nature and developing a connection with the natural world can be a healing and rejuvenating addiction. Engage in activities like hiking, gardening, or simply taking a walk in the park to soak in the beauty of nature. It can enhance your mood, reduce stress, and foster a deeper appreciation of the world around you.

Learning Addiction:

Learning addiction can open up a world of possibilities. Whether learning a new language, taking a new course, or exploring a new skill, continuous learning keeps your mind sharp and enhances personal growth. Embrace a growth mindset and seek opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills.

Other positive addictions include Volunteering Addiction, Journaling Addiction, SelfCare Addiction, Rule of Law and Justice Addiction, etc.
