Today is another June 12. Out of the June 12s I’ve managed to witness on mother earth, that of 1993 remains the most unique.
That was when a great crime was committed in my fatherland. ‘Before our very eyes’, – borrowing the title of a book- the presidential election which Chief MKO Abiola won was annulled. I had to consult a dictionary to check out the meaning of ‘annulled’.
So much water has passed under the bridge since then. Here we are in 2013. Have we as a people learnt any lesson? Has the political class learnt any lesson?
Until we learn to scream NO MORE our oppressors will feel they are doing us a great favour by oppressing us!
