Let’s face facts, are we serious?
My question stems from the fact that our president has gone for medical tourism in the UK.
How much will his trip cost the commonwealth?
Given the fact that when the president of a ‘developing’ (read as ‘underdeveloped’) nation travels, he goes with all the human and material paraphernalia of office.
These include personnel who, of course, will collect estacodes. The flight crew and the jet too. The hangar charges for the jet would have to be paid.
The main deal itself – hospital charges which can never come cheap.
If we could get hold of the funds to be wasted on the unnecessary journey and use it to establish a specialist hospital that could treat Mr Buhari’s unknown ailment, wouldn’t it have been much more sensible?
Wasn’t it the same Buhari who pledged to ban medical tourism?
Nigeria is in debts and the situation back home isn’t the most pleasant, yet some will still be defending this government as the greatest thing to happen after sliced bread!
No wonder political scientists say a people deserves the kind of rulership it gets!!
