‘God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.’ – John 4: 24
I was, in the not too distant past, a housemaster in a school. Normally, around December so many Pentecostal Churches would have programs. Parents would generally want to pick their wards for the programs, especially since they would have finished their examinations.
The school was against parents taking their wards away before vacation. Since the school itself is a missionary school, the owners of the school felt parents could pray for their wards at the crusades and when coupled with the ones the pupils actually did at school, that would have been enough.
However, several parents did not believe in that. They even felt they had the right to pick their wards at any time.
I started with my experience with parents to let us know the extent of our helplessness in spiritual matters. If a child is in a Christian school where they pray at least twenry-one times in a week, parents ought to have a sense of relief.
The little I know about prayers is that prayers will work even if the person being prayed for is not physically present.
I don’t believe pastors and imams do have two heads. We can train ourselves to be even better than them. But then, most of us are easily brainwashed and we do believe in pastors rather than the Supreme Being.
Many of the pastors themselves only love the members for what they would bring in terms of offerings and tithes. The Yoruba would say the love we have for the chicken is for the meat content.
I tend to believe that any church that would hold service during these testy times are led by irreligious people.
I also believe if you don’t love man, you can’t love God. Then if you don’t love man, you could be described as being inhumane. If you’re inhumane, you wouldn’t care for safety of the people.
But like I usually say, it’s left to the people!
