There’re so many melodious songs in Christendom. But my favorite is, ‘Count your blessings, take them one by one’.
That’s for obvious reasons. Amidst the sorrows of this transient world, if one should keep thinking about their losses, one cannot help being further depressed.
I’m not necessarily talking to only Christians. Or who is it and of what religion is he, that they wouldn’t have their own share of disappointments.
But when they come, how we treat them and ourselves would show whether we are real humans.
Whenever I come across a problem, what I do is that I reflect and check how it happened. I then count my losses in preparation for girding my loins and moving on.
Indeed, tough times don’t last, tough people do!
I then withdraw myself and go into prayers. It doesn’t matter what one believes in, as long as they don’t wish another person evil, all will be well.
But then, one should be very careful of making the same mistake again and again. There’s no problem in making mistakes. Actually, mistakes tend to give us some needed practical experience.
However, if one takes a step and makes a mistake, they should be wary of taking that step again.
There’s no harm in having fun. When you relax, you tend to be more composed for the job at hand.
Play games, socialize, involve yourself in volunteering and attend religious and social functions. All these would prepare one for the next task.
But then, always count your blessings by taking them one by one. You’ll discover they are far more than your shortcomings!
