I’ve painfully come to realize a people’s quality of life could generally be sniffed from how they treat animals.
I can remember relating how one squirrel used to juru in my bus stop. It needed not fear people. Rather, they would always come and feed it.
The sun is gradually coming out of its shell, so are these animals. Especially the squirrel.
I find it almost everywhere, always trying to dare human beings.
Looking further, one would see how people treat their dogs. This is not a case of poor dogs eating left over foods. Neither is it a case of them having to do with human waste.
In fact, the least I could say is I’m wowed by how people treat their dogs here.
In the first instance, even the leash with which dogs are held doesn’t come cheap.
Dog food, please don’t go there! Dogs are so well fed that a human being might be drowning in envy.
I hear a millionaire even willed a few millions to his cat!
There’s no gainsaying the fact that animals are treated like friends here.
What about the names, animals bear?
Animals bear human names, like Robert, Donald and even Thomas. I can recall that in my country, dogs bear names like Riro and Bingo.
When someone named a dog Buhari, the dog owner was dragged to a court of law. And that was after he suffered from some indignities to his person.
Any objection to why animals, especially dogs are seen as man’s best friends?
But that’s in the western world!
