The wife of ex-American president George W H Bush and the mother of American president George W Bush, Barbara, is being laid to rest today. She was also the mother of Jeb Bush, a former governor of Florida in the United States.
Many influential people attended the church service at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Houston, Texas, including former presidents Barak Obama and his wife Michelle and Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary. The wife of American President Donald Trump, Melania, was also there.
Of course, George W.H. Bush and George Bush are also former presidents.
The service was a very simple one. The atmosphere itself was sombre.
The Bush male grandchildren didn’t think it was below them to be pallbearers for their grandma. President George Bush also didn’t know it was below him to push his father’s wheelchair before an aide came to help out.
The church service was not turned into political campaign ground. I did not see the tôo many security details I’m used to on occasions like this.
