We wish to join all Nigerians in welcoming President Buhari back home. We pray that God himself will give him spiritual healing.
But then, I’m sure Mr President would be much more inclined to repositioning the health care system in this country now.
Even if he had not wanted to do it initially, I’m sure the controversy generated by his illness would have forced his hands.
How can a President that won in most local governments during the elections suddenly have his popularity under threat?
Apart from that, if we should check how much the recent illness of the president has caused the nation, I’m sure a true patriot would work to avoid a repetition of same.
When we talk of true cost implications, we are talking about the total costs.
Apart from hospital charges, we should be thinking of the presidential staff who went with him.
We must also check the expenditure borne by the aircraft. Hangar rents, cost of fuel, allowances for officials taking care of the aircraft, etc.
Then we have to look into the cost implications of people who went on visits to Mr President. For this one, we have to check the financial implications in terms of the time spent and the monetary losses.
I believe the president also got fed up with their system of free speech. Their free speech nearly did the president in.
We believe that the president has learnt a lot. He would be ever ready to hit the ground running.
As for states like Kogi which had declared holidays so that the people in their states will be able to offer prayers to the almighty, I’m pleading with Mr President to look at them as minor irritants.
