Trapped? – Adewale Sobowale

Did you know that only a few understand that they are embedded in a trap?

Yes!

When you try to keep up with the Joneses and sincerely know you’re living a lie, you’re in a trap!

Well, Yuletide is here. For your information, it’s a cycle that repeats itself annually. That means there’s nothing new about Christmas and New Year.

I’m talking about our preparation for Christmas and the New Year that follows it. Some might not know that it’s natural for people to have tough times when they cannot live up to their responsibilities.

Did you know that tough times don’t last? It depends on your attitude to life.

So, you’re bothered because you’re unable to buy new clothes. Or are you bothered that you’re not able to buy new shoes?

If you don’t get them this year, does that mean you can’t get them forever?

Okay! You’re worried you don’t have the means to provide for your family in the usually showy way. While I empathize with you, I implore you to reflect on your life. When you do, you can’t see why you should thank God.

That’s why I always say, ‘Count your blessings’, is my favorite song.

By the way, although I’m not God and can’t ever be, He’s much more interested in our faith than our celebration.

I’m pleading with you to go out there and make an impact instead of filling yourself with self-guilt.

You’re better off preparing for January and its many responsibilities, like school fees and house rent, than brooding over some vain celebration!
