When the late Prof Ola Rotimi wrote a play titled, ‘Our Husband Has Gone Mad Again’, some of us might have thought he was being too harsh on our military rulers.
The Nobel Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, once advised that people about to contest political posts in Nigeria should first be tested at ‘Aro’. People might feel he was being an extremist.
Mmm…
Now, isn’t it apparent that we have some arrantly mad people in the corridors of power in Nigeria, most especially in Kano state?
Why?
Was the governor not caught receiving bribes in dollars? In spite of the fact that the disgraceful act went viral at the time, what did he do? If he was too ashamed to resign, was the house of assembly just too shocked to impeach him?
I believe the people should have made the state ungovernable for Gandollar!
Rather than doing that, they connived with the governor to dethrone an emir. Let it be known that I’m not a fan of the dethroned emir. But there’s a saying among lawyers that, ‘He who comes to equity must do so with clean hands.’
The Yoruba too have a saying that, ‘If the washman fails to perform his duty of making clothes clean, it’s not the lot of a bedwetter to say it.’
The Kano people were also silent about that!
When the deaths in Kano state started, the Kano state government initially said it wasn’t COVID 19 related. Now, in Nigeria, there’s hardly any difference between the state or country and the governor or head of state respectively.
House slaves just tell the chief executives what they want to hear. They even find justifications for their actions and inactions! It’s all in a bid to jealously protect their pots of soup!
The man even had the guts to tell the world that instead of spending on the whole country, the federal government had concentrated on Lagos State. I would have thought a normal person should have directly asked the FG to help his state.
When he eventually made a turn around, he asked the federal government for some billions of Naira. It was as if only money would have cured the people.
Now, the chickens have come home to roost. It has been discovered the deaths in Kano state are related to COVID 19. If those in the corridors of power and the masses had risen up against the money-crazy Ganduje may be the deaths could have been curtailed.
It remains a may be, because the average living conditions in northern Nigeria will definitely make pig sty look much better.
Definitely, our husband is in a permanent state of madness!
