Just thought I should make it clear that I really don’t care where the political actors come from as far as they are picked democratically. One thing that even those who are educated among us choose not to understand is the fact that at the end of the day where a politician comes from doesn’t matter, but his performance does matter a lot.
In any case, apart from having the satisfaction that a political ruler is from one’s ethnic group, state, town or hamlet, what else? Before the average politician remembers his village people he would have ransacked the treasury.
Ironically, Nigerians are not asking for the moon. They only want the basic amenities to be provided for them and they do desire adequate security. I wouldn’t think those are too much to ask from any right thinking government.
Well, I’m not a fan of Lamido Sanusi, but I’m very much in support of human rights. When he was dethroned, I stated then that it was unfortunate for him to be dethroned by someone who was caught on video being bribed.
But then, Sanusi must defend himself in the case of the kidnapping of 13 year old Ese Oruru from Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. The girl ended up in the emir’s palace in Kano while Sanusi was still emir.
But then, it’s not only Sanusi that
should be asked to state his role but also the police officers who were involved in the case.
Concerning his declaration that the Yoruba are the problems of Nigeria, that could be said to be his opinion. But his accusers need to bring out their evidence.
Some have accused him of advising against polygamy while he’s a polygamist himself. Does his religion not state that those who can afford it could marry up to four wives? Islam however says something about equity between the four wives. As far as I’m concerned, human beings are not God.
People telling him not to stay in Lagos do not seem to understand the laws of the land. The constitution of Nigeria says Nigerians could stay in any state of the federation.
I think we should stop fanning the embers of discord!
