Some have been concerned with the way I write. I can remember someone remarked that I tend to ‘wail’, and complain in Nigerianese, too much in my posts.
Well, if I do complain, I don’t have any apologies for that. I believe most of our leaders, at one time or the other, have been exposed to decent living. Why is it so difficult for our so-called leaders to replicate a little bit of that decent living in our society?
How we live now can not be compared to how animals live in the zoo. At least, there is some semblance of order in the zoo I’m very much pained to declare that we are living a subhuman life.
We can’t be guaranteed a steady supply of electric power. Most of our roads are more or less ditches. We can’t boast of a steady supply of potable water. Our health services remain an apology. Our educational institutions are fast turning into places of miseducation. There’s so much insecurity of lives and property.
It is a few days to Christmas, yet there is no evidence of an approaching festival in town. People are so dull that you will think they are mourning.
It is possible they are!
They may be mourning the good times.
Some people will say instead of criticism, we should appreciate the ruling class and offer suggestions.
Great! I don’t believe people who are not in government must offer suggestions on how those governing could rule well. However, I believe the governed owe themselves the duty of complaining if they are not being ruled well.
That’s because, to the best of my knowledge, nobody begged the rulers to come and govern us. Rather, it was they who felt they could perform better than the then-incumbent (s).
The answer is obvious!
As for suggestions and constructive criticism, I believe some of us are trying. But if you’re not in the corridors of power, I don’t think your ideas will sell.
You just don’t belong!
I still believe this country could be better ruled. At this stage, for obvious reasons, we might not know who or which party to vote for.
But we do know who and which party we won’t vote for!!!
